Truly Julie and her nephew rocking Lin shirts!
My four-year-old nephew Odin may be pint size but he’s a HUGE Knicks fan. He can name the entire starting lineup! Come on…be impressed… Amare Stoudemire isn’t an easy name. I had the pleasure of taking Odin and my brother-in-law Ben to a recent game.
WOW. This was my first visit to MSG since the renovation…and my first Knicks game post Linsanity. I couldn’t believe my eyes…or more like my taste buds. All around the 6th floor are gourmet food options…fancy cupcakes…popular BBQ chains…sushi, etc! The “Simply Chicken” stand brought to you by none other than Chef extraordinaire Jean George Vongerichten caught my eye. I had the chicken hotdog with kim chee kraut (love the Korean influence on an American classic)…and
the chilled sesame noodles. Check out the picture gallery below for the food scene! Also new to MSG and the Knicks…middle aged Asian women. I have never seen so many ladies passionately watching basketball. Bravo to Jeremy Lin for making the game of basketball more inclusive and diverse! I also got to witness my colleague Tina Cervasio in action. She fills-in for sports on Good Day New York every now and then…but her full time gig is to report from the sidelines of every Knicks game. She’s an absolute asset to the team…and it’s always inspiring to see a woman thrive in a field that has been dominated by men for so long. Tina always brings her A-game…and lucky for us…so did the Knicks that night. Knicks: 106 Raptors: 87. Jeremy Lin: 18 points and 10 assists!!!

“Touch” World Premiere…hosted by…Truly Julie!
Truly Julie’s first international broadcast! Fashion Front: Elizabeth and James dress, YSL shoes
I had the honor of hosting the Red Carpet Show for the world premiere of Fox’s new show “Touch” starring Keifer Sutherland. This was an unprecedented global event….with viewers tuning in from Russia…Turkey…China…Italy…,etc. I’ll be honest…I was a bit nervous for my first international broadcast….gulp…but I think it turned out OK. Here’s my 15 minutes of global “fame”…literally…the Red Carpet show was 15 minutes:) Also..behind the scenes pics here. I hope to host another event soon at the Museum of Natural History…what a cool freakin’ venue!
Truly Julie Fashion Front….in Hollywood!
My packing for my recent LA trip was a big success. Each outfit was perfect for the nature of the shoot…weather…and comfort. Love this yellow Yigal dress with the cutout detail below. It’s like a mullet hair do…business in the front…party in the back! Below: Yigal Azrouel dress, Nicole Romano’s “Helen of Troy” earrings, Jimmy Choo shoes.
Below: Tibi dress, Dannijo earrings, Lanvin shoes
And really…could I have picked a more theme corresponding dress for my live remote at the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre? It matches so well to my backdrop that it may almost be too matchy-matchy. Funny thing is…it was totally unintentional! I didn’t know I was going to be live at that location till the 11th hour. Fashion Gods went to work! Below: Prabal Gurung Dress, Erickson Beamon earrings, Jimmy Choo shoes.

And even though I was 3000 miles away from NYC…for a moment…I felt like I never left. Below…the pseudo New York set on the Fox Lot. Crazy..right?! And in the same essence…none of these fantastic dresses are my own. I was a smart cookie and rented them for 10th of the price.
Chillin’ in Philly
Truly Julie kicking back in Philly.
I had the pleasure of visiting my best friend Beth in Philly this weekend. She lives in Old City which is full of historic landmarks, i.e. Liberty Bell….Betsy Ross’ home….Independence Hall, etc. I remember studying up on these places when I was 18 years old…preparing to take my US citizenship test! Up and down Beth’s cobblestone streets are cute boutiques…vintage stores…and artsy furniture shops. Clearly I found a chair large enough to support my gregarious nature:)….but I had to leave it behind given I live in an overpriced shoebox called a Soho apartment. I took the Bolt Bus from NYC to Philly and 2 hours and $14 later…Bam! I was hanging with my BFF of more than 10 years. I recommend Philly for a weekend/day trip. It’s sort of like Brooklyn without the try-so-hard hipsters…laid-back and grounded like Chicago…but definitely has its own edge. Great dining experiences, too…and plenty of restaurants that let you BYO (“bring your own” booze). I’ll drink to that…the great founding fathers of this awesome country (U-S-A…U-S-A!)…and to friendship!
Best Birthday Serenade…EVER!!!!!
A six piece band serenades Truly Julie in the East Village! Click on the picture.
Wow..what a night! So there I am eating my belated birthday dinner (had to work on actual birthday) with a small group of my family and friends when all of a sudden my sister Grace says to me…”Um…I know we’re in the middle of eating but can you put your coat back on because I have a surprise for you outside.” I look to the others hoping for clues…but they look just as puzzled. As we make our way out…I’m thinking…’Did she get me a car? I hope not given I haven’t driven in 8 years….did she get me a scooter? I mean…why in the world do I have to actually go out into the open streets of NYC?!’ What was awaiting outside is something I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life. Click here for the video! My guitar teacher/BFF Michael Thurber put together a 6 piece band consisting of Juliard trained and Broadway professional musicians to serenade….yup! Lil’ Ol’ me!!!! The bold sound of the saxophone ricocheting down E. 10th street…the vibrations of the bass catching the eyes and ears of every passerby…the perfectly pitched voices of the band and my jovial laugh splashing smiles across the faces of even the most jaded New Yorkers…for that moment…I genuinely felt like the world is my oyster. Michael and I first met a year ago for a story that changed my life and since then….we’ve been like two peas in a pod. Michael has given me the incredible gift of music…and equally if not more importantly…one of the most amazing friendships. My deepest gratitude to Grace and Michael…it really was a happy birthday.
Bring it Boston!
Truly Julie shopping on the iconic Newbury Street in Boston.
During my recent trip to Cambridge…I took a 15 minute cab ride into the heart of Boston. Newbury Street is to Boston…what Rodeo Drive is to Los Angeles…and Madison Avenue is to New York.
Except here…all the stores are inside cute little brownstones. So even if you are walking into a Zara or a CVS for that matter…you feel like you’re shopping at a boutique. And thanks to my friend Eric Weinstein…I also ventured out to the southern burbs…right along the coast to the well manicured town of Hingham. Eric (on the right of me) and Johnny Alves (on the left of me) are the real life inspirations behind the characters “E” and “Drama” respectively on HBO’s Entourage. So yes…they’ve been BFF with Mark Wahlberg forever. Mark’s brother, Paul Wahlberg, is a talented chef…and is now the proud owner of Alma Nove and Wahlburgers. I
had the absolute pleasure of dining at Alma Nove…and I kid you not…the best sword fish ever! I almost passed out after the first bite…I had no idea sword fish could be that meaty yet fluffy at the same time. The little neck clams were also divine…as well as the homemade wild boar ravioli. Get ready to salivate when you check out the picture gallery below! Oh…and the service was so exceptional that I felt like…well…part of the Wahlberg entourage!
