I have a new fashion obsession: Cut25! Rarely do I find an entire store full of TV friendly outfits. Jewel tones…electric hues (the periwinkle leather jacket feels like butter!)…bold prints…and sassy silhouettes (check out the purple dress below…it has an optional cape!)…to say the least this brand fits my colorful personality:) Cut25 is the new contemporary line created by Yigal Azrouël…and it’s a bit easier on your wallet than his upper crust brand. Cut25 only has one store as of now…it’s in Soho on Grand St, just south of Crosby St. I’m already staking it out for their fall shipment which includes an Alaia-esque knit dress and skirt!! All clothing: Cut25, Watch: TW Steel, Multicolor thread necklace: Holst and Lee, Gold necklace worn with white dress: Grace Sun (she’s in the pic with me, too! Check out her blog: www.MamaisHaute.com), Tan shoes: Pour La Victoire, Grey Boots: Chloe.

If you Dress to Impress…then Store to the Core! Thank You New York Daily News!

I constantly strum up new ways to house my clothes/shoes/accessories (i.e. guitar case for
my jewelry) because…well…I have no choice!
The kind folks over at New York Daily News noticed my squirreling techniques…and generously gave my small apartment a giant 2-page spread. I’m a bit embarrassed about the world knowing that I store shoes in the oven..but hey…a girl’s gotta do what she’s gotta do. And given my baking skills (or lack there of)…it’s all for the best:) Oh..and I love that my Nelson Mandela doll made it into the bedroom photo! Disabled kids sewed it together in South Africa and they did an incredible job because his fuzzy hair is so lifelike! I bought it 10 years ago in Cape Town and the little guy has been with me ever since…every single apartment I’ve ever had. And despite my sister saying he looks like a voodoo doll (anyone can have a stuffed animal…but a stuffed Nobel Prize Winner??!)…I’m a big fan…he reminds of the real Nelson Mandela’s famous quote: It always seems impossible until its done. And in this spirit…it always seems impossible for me to fit anything new into an already maxed out closet…until it’s done:) Find out how I do it…catch the entire article here including shoes in the oven picture. Big thanks to Gina Pace and Christie Farriella for the fun feature!
Thank You Maxim!
Ok…I was almost positive that in my lifetime I would never be mentioned in the same sentence…let alone same category…as Halle Berry or Sports Illustrated cover girl Irina Shayk…but here I am…making it into Maxim’s “Today’s Girl” feature. To say the least…I’m in pretty good company. I know I should feel utterly flattered…but honestly…I’m just in fear that I’m getting punk’d. Either way…THANK YOU MAXIM! And thanks to facebook friend Ed Javaruski for bringing this to my attention! Below is the write up from the feature…here’s the link for more pics.
N’awlins!
Truly Julie wild about The French Quarter!
I’ve done my fair share of international travel…but my domestic travel jaunts are sparse
and…quite frankly…embarrassing. So…in my attempt to expand my Vegas-LA-Miami horizon…I recently took a weekend trip with two of my girlies to New Orleans. Correction: N’awlins! Who knew…that in just 2.5 hours via plane…you can feel like you’re overseas! NOLA is truly unique…in food, architecture, music, people…the overall culture
oozes charm and energy. Well…Bourbon Street can get a bit sketchy, but go during the day and you’ll be amused and less grossed out:) In my Buenos Aires post...I mention how BA is the perfect blend of Europe meets Latin America…well…N’awlins is the perfect concoction of southern charm meets the French (with a tinge of Spanish influence). You won’t find the ubiquitous Best Buy/Joanne Fabrics/Applebee’s strip malls here. Instead…cute authentic stores and non-franchise
restaurants that welcome you with the warmest of smiles. And people…the live music scene is out of this world! I was there for two days of Jazz Fest...so every seam of the city was stitched with a performer…a band…a dancer…all day all night! Um..and ladies…I think you will appreciate the guy-girl ratio. If I had to guess…I’d say it’s 10-to-1. Yeah…lots of free Hurricanes were passed our way. Thank you, gentleman! I’m happy to report I behaved myself and kept to just one Hurricane a day…as to not be the “big easy” in the Big Easy! Ha! I really do think that New Orleans is one of the rarest gems in the country…I can’t wait to go back! Check out the pic gallery…there are 5 pages of them FYI:)
Truly Julie Fashion Front
Truly Julie wears Eugenia Kim hat, Chicco Ruiz earrings, Alisha Levine top, Etro belt, flea market skirt, and vintage cowboy boots.
I know I know…I sometimes I look like I dressed in the dark:) I like mixing bold prints…pairing unexpected colors and silhouettes…blending cheap with designer…and clashing modern with vintage, etc. To sum it up…I like to have fun when I dress and not view it as a chore. Dressing is just another way to express myself…so I look at it as an opportunity to state just who I am and just what kind of mood I am in…all without ever saying a word. Like the saying goes…life is not a dress rehearsal…so play the part you want to with conviction!
