The Screen Actors Guild Awards is sort of like your high school yearbook contest where your own peers vote you as the most popular…or best dressed…most athletic, etc. This is when actors judge their fellow actors and because of that…it’s a bit more intimiate and chill
than, say, the Golden Globes. Some observations of the night. Sally Field is amaze balls. She’s just as afable as you’d imagine. If that’s what 66 looks like, sign me up. Also, the cast of Homeland pretty hilarious. Navid Negahban, who plays the notorious terrorist Abu Nazir told me a really funny story about going through airport security. Hugh Jackman (insert love sigh) always stops for me…and his utmost respect for his
wife is commendable. And for you fellas…I make Jordan Sparks do a full spin for our camera. She’s lost 55 pounds and radiates confidence. You can catch all of my moments
with the aforementioned, plus the SAG fashion breakdown here (scroll down to middle of page and click on the 3rd clip). **My entire look was rented so that I’m not left sucking my thumb by the end of awards season:) You can, too, on RentTheRunway.com. And the reason for the title of this post? My sister’s remarks on my crimson dress blending into the red carpet: “Um, is that you in the picture…or is that a red carpet with a face?”.

70th Annual Golden Globes: I came, I saw, I conquered…a Date!
Truly Julie covering her first Golden Globe Awards! Dress: Matthew Williamson (borrow it on RentTheRunway) Shoes: Lanvin
I locked eyes with Steven Spielberg and he gave me one of the few interviews of the night. Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston tried to tip me a $100. And Homeland star, Diego Klattenhoff (AKA “Mike”) gave me a wink and asked to meet up later. So many golden moments at the Golden Globes…including plenty of blazing red carpet fashion. Catch it all right here!
The X Factor Finale Part I!
In less than 24 hours…the life of one of the top three contenders on The X Factor will change forever. He or She will be 5 million dollars richer…and his/her voice…will most likely end up on your playlist somewhere down the road. I mean…I would buy “Young Homie” on itunes right now! My hats off to Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene for taking us on an X-ceptional journey this season….for helping us see that dreams do come true. Catch my interviews with the top 3 as well as the judges from tonight here!

And I found my yin to my yang this evening…Nicole Scherzinger pointed out our contradictory outfits. Um…I’m pretty sure no one is looking at me or my dress when I’m standing next to her. While she wouldn’t clearly confirm or deny the rumor that she’s not coming back as a judge next year…she did say that she definitely will release her album “Killer Love” early next year…and she plans to tour. Which makes me wonder if she’ll have any Xtra time for The X Factor…hmmmm.
Look who else I ran into?! Brooklyn’s own….Astro! He’ll be hitting the stage tomorrow night for Part II of The X Factor Finale. Astro is releasing a FREE mixed tape album on Dec 22nd at 9:01PM…so follow me on twitter (@JulieChangFox5) for deets on where to download.
A Very “New York” Weekend Kicks A*%$!

We are in the thick of holiday party season…and only in New York…can you be partying
with almost 100% Russian folks…then an hour later….partying with almost 100% Indian
folks. I revel in NYC’s diversity…because you really can sample the world in a day . This weekend…I headed east to Brighton Beach a.k.a. the Russian mecca of Brooklyn. I tore up the rug at Rasputin Cabaret…which was a 20 course meal…dance party…variety show…poofy hairdos…big shouldered
suits…vodka vodka vodka…all wrapped into one. At times…it felt a time and geographical warp to Moscow circa 80′s…but for most of the night…I was mesmerized by all the lavish costumes and the impressive production value of all the dance numbers (complete with trapeze!). WOW. I tell you what…some Broadway shows could use Rasputin’s help in jazzing up their production. The high tech lighting (3D effect in some cases!)…and hundreds of intricate costumes (not to mention nano second outfit changes!)…were all very entertaining. Back in Manhattan at Soho House…Jay-Z & Punjabi MC’s addictive tune “Beware” was one of the many songs that had revelers throwing and twirling their hands up in the air. Leading the pack…birthday girl, Roshini Raj! Yes…Dr. Raj of Fox 5 and the Today Show (check out her book “What the Yuck!”). Fashion Front: Truly Julie’s Dress, Nina Ricci (available at RentTheRunway.com) and shoes, YSL.
I zipped up the weekend by catching an Alvin Ailey performance. As always…it left me awestruck…and wanting to do sit-ups (Ailey dancers have the sickest bodies!). Please try to catch the Takademe performance while you can! It redefines the word unique. Click here to see what I mean! So…did I get my dose of culture this weekend? Да. हां. Yes.

American Idol Season 10 Grand Finale!
Truly Julie with Idol runner-up, Lauren Alaina, and Idol winner, Scotty McCreery Crowning moment: confetti pours as 17 year old, Scotty McCreery, becomes the new American Idol!
Haley Reinhart with that Janis-Joplin-esque voice came in third.
True behind-the-scenes moment. Truly Julie inside the makeshift Idol tent typing up her script at 1AM PST. It may be LA but it’s really cold at that early hour.
Every May, I know there will be a week where I sleep a total of 8 hours in 4 days. It’s called: American Idol Season Finale! Season 10 of Idol was truly a big surprise. With Simon Cowell gone…and Season 9 being somewhat lackluster, many were skeptical that J.Lo and Steven Tyler could turn the tide. Thanks to one of the most talented batches of contestants, Season 10 hit a high note. Idol remained the top rated primetime show for the 7th consecutive year…not to mention the biggest viewership gain in years. As Judge Randy Jackson told me, “The new Idol remix is off the chain.”
Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery opened my eyes to what America is really into: COUNTRY. I really thought only one of them would be in the top two, since my theory was they’d split the “country” votes. In the end…Haley Reinhart got knocked out, despite her power Janis Joplin-esque voice. It’s crazy to think that these two were born in ’93 and ’94. I’m so freakin’ old!! I feel lucky to be able to cover such a huge show….and to witness a grocery store bagger becoming a national sensation, all within 3 months. It’s really a show about the American Dream. And let’s not forget about the star studded grand finale. This year’s highlights: Lady Gaga, Bono & The Edge and Beyonce! I took a very special date to the event: my 11 year old niece, Hana! You can catch my Idol coverage here! (I recommend the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th clips because they include interviews with Lauren and Scotty. I ask them if they’re going to get married!)
Fashion Front: Tibi dress, Lanvin for H&M necklace. All of my dresses for the week of American Idol were rented! Check out RentTheRunway.com. It’s really a great way to get all dolled up without so much investment ($$$, time spent shopping and closet space!). The purple dress you see in the Gallery Pictures below is Temperley London. The print knit dress is by Missoni. Yes, all at RentTheRunway.
